Hyesung, a member of the K-pop group VANNER, has been discharged from his mandatory military service. The 28-year-old K-pop idol struggles with panic disorder and mental health issues and, therefore, is deemed unfit for Army duty.
On December 16, his agency, KLAP Entertainment, broke the news through its official fan cafe, stating, “VANNER’s Hyesung will be discharged from military service as a reservist on December 16.”
The agency stated, “Hyesung was hospitalized at the National Defense Hospital two weeks after entering the training center due to panic and mental health issues he had been suffering from. Following a thorough examination, the Military Manpower Administration concluded that he could not serve normally and required ongoing treatment, which led to his discharge as a reservist.”
KLAP Entertainment apologized to fans, saying, “We are sorry to cause concern with this sudden news. We understand fans’ worries about Hyesung’s well-being, but we cannot provide additional information beyond this announcement.”
Hyesung started his mandatory military service at the training camp on November 4. Within over a little month, he is discharged from the active-duty service due to deteriorating mental health.
