Lee Junho has officially spoken out about the recent tax investigation surrounding him.
The 2PM member expanded his real estate portfolio in recent years. In 2019, he acquired two luxury units at The Rivers Cheongdam in Seoul’s upscale Gangnam-gu district.
More recently, in March this year, Lee Junho purchased a prime commercial building on Apgujeong Rodeo Street, also in Gangnam-gu, under his family’s corporate entity, JF Company.
JYP Entertainment released a statement addressing the allegations on December 26. The statement reads, “We would like to confirm that our artist cooperated fully with a non-regular, comprehensive tax audit conducted by the Investigation Division 2 of the Seoul Regional Tax Office in September 2023. This audit was a routine examination, not prompted by suspicions of tax evasion.”
The agency explained, “We diligently filed our taxes based on the advice of our tax representative. However, due to differences in interpretation between the tax authorities and our representative, we paid additional taxes. Notably, this was our first non-regular tax audit in 17 years of business. Throughout the process, we adhered to the tax authorities’ laws and procedures. We settled the disputed amount, and allegations of intentional tax underreporting are entirely unfounded.”
JYP Entertainment added, “Lee Junho has faithfully fulfilled his tax obligations throughout his long career, and we assure you that there have been no irregularities regarding his taxes. Thank you.”
On the work front, Lee Junho has wrapped filming for Netflix series “Cashero”. He will begin working on tvN’s drama “Typhoon Company” with Geum Sae Rok, playing the role of an entrepreneur navigating the challenges of IMF crises.
