V and Jungkook have partially won a lawsuit against an infamous YouTube channel Sojang.
The Seoul Western District Court ruled in favor of the BTS members, ordering the channel to pay a substantial amount in damages. The lawsuit was filed against the YouTube channel Taldeok Camp and its operator for spreading false and malicious information about V and Jungkook.
On February 14, Judge Lee Gwan Hyung ruled in their favor, ordering the channel’s operator to pay a total of 76 million won in damages. 51 million won was awarded to BIGHIT MUSIC, 10 million won to V, and 15 million won to Jungkook.
The lawsuit was filed in response to the channel’s malicious content, which spread false rumors about BTS members and caused significant harm to their reputations. This is not the first time BIGHIT MUSIC has taken legal action against the channel’s operator, who has a history of creating and damaging content against K-pop stars.
Last March, V and Jungkook took legal action, filing a lawsuit against Sojang seeking 114 million won in damages. They alleged that Park had defamed them and infringed on their copyrights by using their work without permission.
During a hearing held in August 2024, Sojang denied the defamation allegations, claiming the video in question was simply an opinion piece, not a deliberate attempt to harm the reputations of V and Jungkook.
Park operated the YouTube channel “Taldeok Camp,” which notoriously spread malicious rumors about K-pop idols through its videos. The channel has since been taken down.
In a separate case, Sojang was sentenced to a suspended prison term and fined 200 million won by the Incheon District Court on January 15. A week later, on January 22, the Seoul Central District Court ruled partially in the YT channel operator’s favor in a related damages lawsuit filed by Jang Wonyoung and ordered to pay a reduced amount of 50 million won.
