Fan wars and solo stans are nothing new among BLACKPINK fans, but lately, tensions have been escalating within the BLINK fandom.
In the past few months, solo stans are increasingly targeting other members with hurtful criticism. BLINKs are getting worried and confused about BLACKPINK’s future as a group. The group has been inactive for over a year, and some people think their upcoming comeback and tour might be the beginning of the end. It is because members are hyper-focused on solo projects and have achieved unprecedented success.
Since fan wars are getting too intense to ignore lately, BLACKPINK Jennie addressed the situation in a recent interview with Apple Music.
She expressed,
“I treated really sensitively when it comes to my relationship with our fans. And as much as the changes are going on with the group, I think, the fans are also… they might feel confused, not lost, but, lost in the way maybe. But I think, throughout showing everyone’s music, our solo careers, and then when we are back as BLACKPINK, I think that, hopefully, will rebuild that relationship, that everyone feels confused about. Because as long as the four of us love each other, there is no reason for anyone to see us separately. Maybe in a way that might have confused the fans, I treat this relationship very delicately.”

BLACKPINK members Rosé and Lisa were criticized for revealing their solo fandom names. In particular, Lisa receives a lot of criticism from fans, who are actively pursuing her activities in the US. Fans often criticize her for not showing support for other members’ solo endeavors. More recently, the “Rockstar” rapper created a major stir by revealing her personal lightstick.
In addition, there have been many instances when major solo fan clubs harshly criticized other members.
BLACKPINK embarked on a solo journey in September 2023 when their “Born Pink” tour concluded. Following that, they worked on their comeback albums, acting projects, and other solo endeavors. Besides their reunion for the 8th debut anniversary fanmeeting and the Born Pink tour movie screening, fans did not see the girls together.
Now most members have released their studio albums and other projects except Jennie. She is currently promoting her studio album “Ruby”, out on March 7.
Without a doubt, BLACKPINK members have achieved unprecedented success as solo artists. Rosé released a smash hit “APT.” with Bruno Mars, which became the highest-charting single by a female K-soloist on the HOT 100.
In addition, Lisa made her Hollywood debut while Jisoo made her acting comeback last month. Jennie tapped renowned international artists for collaboration on her full-length album “Ruby”.
BLINKs are over the moon as their solo activities are wrapping up and their reunion is happening soon. As per reports, BLACKPINK will make a comeback in May, however, it has not been confirmed by YG Entertainment. While their comeback is yet to be announced, YG has already released their 2025 tour schedule. They will perform at stadium-level arenas that have not hosted a K-pop artist before.
The reunion of the BLACKPINK members after a year apart is likely to bring some much-needed calm to the fandom, with fan wars expected to die down as fans reunite behind the group.
