Nana’s remarks on Sunwoo’s ‘Airpods’ video have sparked a negative reaction from THE BOYZ fans, who have bombarded her Instagram with hate comments.
For those unversed, a video of Sunwoo went viral on social media where he dropped his AirPods” while going to the elevator. After he got on the elevator, he shouted “My AirPods” and the bodyguard picked it up. The issue arose when he took the earphones with one hand and did not express gratitude or bow his head, which is customary in Korea.
Netizens left harsh comments under the video and Nana replied to a hate comment by saying “Someone needs to be scolded”. Since it happened to be the 25-year-old K-pop star’s birthday, it made fans all the more enraged. They criticized Nana for being friends with problematic people including HyunA and Kim Soo Hyun. Fans pointed out that she never spoke against Kim Soo Hyun, who is facing allegations of dating and grooming a minor.
As the backlash grew, Nana responded with a lengthy post on the fan messaging app Bubble, saying
“It seems like you’re talking about my comment. I was also surprised to see the hate comments and demands for an apology on my Instagram.
I didn’t write the comment to get it featured in the news. I’m a little worried that things have gotten out of hand.
It’s not right to judge someone based on a short video, but I didn’t make assumptions about the person. I just thought his behavior was extremely rude and shocking.
I was reacting to his behavior and words. I thought his actions were wrong, so I expressed my feelings in the comment, saying he should be disciplined.
He yelled out loud for everyone to hear, “My Airpods!” when they fell.
He didn’t move an inch even though he could see them just a few steps away.
Who is he expecting to pick them up? Is he unable to move? Does he expect someone to be his hands and feet just because they’re a bodyguard, even if they’re much older?
Was he asking the Airpods to walk back to him? I didn’t see it that way.
But I could be wrong.
Anyone can be in a situation where they’re misunderstood.
That is why I watched the video over and over again.
I don’t know who he is, but if someone like that was next to me, I would have said the same thing. “You need a lesson.” I would have added, “Where did you learn to behave like that?”

Previously, Sunwoo also addressed the controversy saying he did not know what fell initially and only realized it was his AirPods when he saw them being picked up. He shared that he thanked the staff member who handed him the AirPods, although without bowing his head. Sunwoo addressed critics, stating they are wasting their lives by trying to tear others down.
