On April 15, it was officially confirmed that Lee Jong Won and Kim Hye Yoon will star in the new horror mystery movie “A Place to Kill” (tentative title).

Following her breakout roles in “Extraordinary You” and “Lovely Runner”, Kim earned the title of “Rom-com queen”. Now, she will shift gears and ditch the cute, adorable image for the new role.

On the other hand, Lee scored his first lead role in ENA’s romance drama “Brewing Love” opposite Lee Sejeong. His chemistry, charisma, striking look, and acting skills were praised widely by the fans. Now, both acclaimed Kdrama stars are reuniting for a horror film.

“A Place to Kill” Plot

A film crew’s routine shoot takes a dark turn when they capture an unidentified figure on camera at a Salmokji reservoir. As they dig deeper, they encounter something sinister and mysterious lurking deep in the water.

The movie takes place at Salmokji reservoir, a real place in Korea that’s known for its chilling stories and unsettling vibe. It’s based on actual Korean folklore and scary tales that have been around for ages. The movie uses these stories to create a mix of psychological horror and suspense.

Cast and Character

  • Kim Hye Yoon stars as Su In, a film crew member who experiences strange events at a reservoir. She experiences growing unease during the business trip at the reservoir. Her character will play a key role in unraveling the mystery. Kim Hye Yoon is known for her memorable appearances in “Snowdrop”, “Extraordinary You”, and “Lovely Runner”. The 28-year-old actress is set to appear in another romance drama “Human From Today”, scheduled for 2026.
  • Lee Jong Won stars as Ki Tae. He joins colleague Su In in investigating strange occurrences at Salmokji reservoir. Lee is set to take on the horror genre for the first time in “A Place to Kill,” marking his first commercial film. He has shown his versatility in various genres, from rom-coms to historical dramas. His notable acting credits include “Brewing Love”, “Knight Flower”, “Bad Memory Eraser”, and “Hospital Playlist”.

Production

“A Place to Kill” is helmed by director Lee Sang Min, a rising talent in Korean cinema known for his award-winning short films. The production company, The Lamp, has a track record of successful films, such as “Escape”, “Samjin Company English Class”, and “A Taxi Driver”.

“A Place to Kill” Release Date

“A Place to Kill” starring Kim Hye Yoon and Lee Jong Won is scheduled to begin filming in May. The release date has not officially been announced, however, it is expected to be released sometime in 2026.
