BTS V (Kim Taehyung) will return to civilian life next week after serving 18 months of active-duty service. As he prepares to complete his mandatory military service in a few days, ARMYs worldwide are counting down the days until his return.
Fans endured a difficult wait as group activities were put on hold due to Jin’s enlistment in December 2022. J-hope enlisted in April 2023, followed by Suga in September of the same year. The remaining members, V, RM, Jungkook, and Jimin, enlisted in December 2023, with a one-day gap between each.
BTS military service era will be officially over in a couple of weeks with Suga’s discharge on June 21, 2025.
Coming back to the subject, here’s everything you need to know about V’s discharge plans, fan greetings, and upcoming projects.
BTS V’s Military Discharge Details
Date & Location
V will be discharged alongside leader RM on June 10, 2025, after 18 months of service in the Special Duty Team (a counterterrorism unit). On December 11, 2023, they both enlisted, finished their basic training by mid-January 2024, and were assigned to their respective military units.
While RM became a member of the military band, V was assigned to the 2nd Corps, aka Ssangyong Unit, stationed in Chuncheon, Gangwon province. As part of the SDT, the “Slow Dancing” singer underwent rigorous training in areas like anti-terrorism, physical fitness, special martial arts, sniper skills, and rappelling.
Fan Greeting Plans
V will meet fans and likely talk to the press immediately after his military discharge on June 10, 2025. As per BIGHIT MUSIC, he will greet fans at a designated location in Chuncheon (not his military base) to avoid overcrowding. The agency has urged fans not to visit military bases due to safety concerns.
They announced via TenAsia that RM and V will meet fans in Chuncheon, and there will be no event at their respective military bases.
V’s Weverse live broadcast is highly anticipated, following his playful countdown updates (e.g., “Sergeant Elio D-9” Instagram post).
Post-Discharge Schedule
The 29-year-old singer is expected to join the 12th-anniversary celebration (June 13) alongside RM, Jimin, and Jungkook. They may also attend member j-hope’s encore concert, HOPE ON THE STAGE, happening on June 13 and 14. More details about the plans will be announced by the BTS vocalist himself or his agency at a later date.
What’s Next for BTS V
As it has been revealed by BIGHIT MUSIC and HYBE, there will likely be no immediate group activities as members will need time for preparations before resuming activities. Although nothing is finalized, it is expected that each member will continue their solo activities by late 2025.
V released multiple digital singles during the enlistment period, he will release his sophomore album in the coming months and possibly go on a solo tour.
Given his interest in acting, he might take on some acting projects. ARMYs wouldn’t mind him starring in a romantic comedy or action thriller. Rumor has it, he might appear in “Squid Game 3,” which is set to release on June 27.
Meanwhile, V and RM are scheduled to return on June 11, Jimin and Jungkook on June 12, and Suga on June 21. Jin and j-hope already completed their active-duty service last year.
