As BTS celebrates their 12th debut anniversary on June 13, 2025, leader RM (Kim Namjoon) penned a deeply introspective letter on Weverse. Today, BTS turns 12, and the world is in awe of what the 7-member K-pop group has achieved in these 12 years. Of course, it was not all rainbows, and BTS has seen their fair share of struggles before getting to where they are now.
As a leader, RM contributed a lot to the group’s success. Fresh from his military discharge on June 10, the 30-year-old rapper began his note with a poignant “Happy birthday, BTS.” He humorously noted he pressed so hard while writing that he “broke the pencil lead”.
He previously shared his experience with insomnia during his military service, where he went without sleep for 78 hours, and now uses sleep aids to help him get rest.

After his discharge on June 21, fans would get some clarity on whether the members will engage in solo activities or push for a group comeback early.
