SEVENTEEN’s Joshua Hong made a striking appearance at the 83rd Golden Globe Awards on Sunday night. He stepped onto the red carpet at the Beverly Hilton in Los Angeles to attend one of Hollywood’s biggest events. His attendance came through an official partnership with Lexus, a sponsor of this year’s ceremony.
The Korean-American K-pop star arrived in an elegant all-black outfit. During red carpet interviews, he admitted that performing with Ariana Grande would feel “intimidating” because she is so “talented.” He later added that she is his dream collaboration and said he would definitely ask her for a selfie if they happened to meet at the ceremony.
Joshua also dished on the success of KPop Demon Hunters and how it opened new doors for Korean artists. He also talked about the SEVENTEEN’s enlistment era, “This time period I think it’s gonna help us out to grow as individuals, and after we get together as a group, it’s gonna be a bigger synergy.”
The SEVENTEEN vocalist shared that he is going to watch Heated Rivalry and is excited to meet the cast of Frankenstein, as he found the film “emotional.”
When asked about his dream acting project, he expressed, “Something in a sitcom, like a comedy sitcom, because I grew up watching that.”
Joshua, 30, is often known by fans as SEVENTEEN’s “gentleman.” On January 10 (Korean time), he was seen at the airport heading to Los Angeles, which made the buzz real. For many fans, it felt like a clear sign that he is looking beyond music and toward acting and film.
The Golden Globe Awards are often called “Hollywood’s Party of the Year.” The ceremony is broadcast in more than 185 countries and is closely watched as a major signal for the rest of the awards season. This year’s event was held, as always, at the Beverly Hilton Hotel and was hosted for the second year in a row by comedian Nikki Glaser.
The night was packed with major names and strong competition. The film One Battle After Another led with nine nominations, while Sentimental Value followed closely with eight. The show aired live on CBS from 8-11 PM Eastern Time and was also available to stream on Paramount+. Red carpet coverage began earlier in the evening on E!.
Ahead of the main ceremony, special honors were presented during a “Golden Eve” event on January 8. Dame Helen Mirren was presented with the Cecil B. DeMille Award, and Sarah Jessica Parker received the Carol Burnett Award.
Joshua’s appearance at the Globes was not just for show but part of a larger plan. In late 2025, it was announced that he had signed with United Talent Agency, one of the most powerful agencies in Hollywood. No acting project has been officially announced yet, but his partnership with UTA suggests that opportunities may soon follow.
While Joshua is new to Hollywood, he is not new to acting. In 2019, he made a cameo appearance in the Korean web drama A-Teen 2. He has also spoken openly about his interest in acting. In a 2024 interview, he shared his thoughts plainly, saying, “Maybe I’ll return to the U.S. to audition or study acting.” Walking the Golden Globes red carpet now feels like a natural step toward that dream.
Joshua also has a unique advantage compared to many other K-pop idols. He was born in Los Angeles and is a U.S. citizen, therefore, fluent in English. Because of this, he is not required to complete South Korea’s mandatory military service. This gives him more freedom to take on auditions, filming schedules, and long-term projects without interruption.
On the red carpet, Joshua appeared top stars including Charli XCX, Chris Pine, Priyanka Chopra Jonas, and BLACKPINK’s Lisa, also known as Lalisa Manobal.
On the work front, Joshua will continue to tour Asia with SEVENTEEN boys as part of their world tour, New_. Their next stops include Hong Kong (February 28-29), Singapore (March 7), Bangkok (March 14-15), and Bulacan (March 27).
