Kim Seon Ho has begun winding down his personal one-person corporation, SHDO, following the recent tax-related controversy surrounding its operations. His agency, Fantagio, confirmed the decision on February 4. The agency explained that the 39-year-old actor set up the company in January 2024 to manage his acting activities and theater productions.
The name “SHDO” combines “Seon-ho” and the Korean word “hada,” meaning “to do.” He received settlement payments through the corporation until he signed an exclusive contract with Fantagio in February 2025.
Fantagio said the corporation was never intended for long-term operation and has not carried out any business for over a year. The agency emphasized, “Since signing the exclusive contract, Fantagio has been paying all settlements directly to the actor, and the corporation has no connection to the contract process or any subsequent activities.”
They also confirmed that Kim Seon Ho has cleared all corporate expenses. These expenses include corporate card usage, family salaries, and corporate vehicle usage, and both corporate tax and personal income tax on settlement funds.
They emphasized that Fantagio has no involvement with SHDO, either during the contract process or afterward.
Fantagio acknowledged that Kim Seon Ho did not have a sufficient understanding of how to properly operate a corporation at the time it was established. The agency stated “Kim Seon-ho did not have sufficient understanding of corporate management. He deeply reflects on establishing and maintaining the corporation for about a year under such circumstances. He sincerely apologizes and bows his head in regret.”
One-person corporations are commonly used by celebrities in South Korea to manage income and business activities. However, they require careful legal and financial management. When this is not handled clearly, misunderstandings can arise, especially regarding taxes. Fantagio’s explanation suggests that the closure of SHDO is meant to settle any remaining questions and prevent further controversy.
Meanwhile, Kim Seon Ho is preparing for his next major project. He is set to appear in the Disney+ original series Portraits of Delusion, which is scheduled to be released in the second half of this year.
