Taeyong from NCT is joining the Navy military band. As announced by SM Entertainment, Taeyong will start his basic military training at the training center on April 15 before serving his national defense duties in the Navy military band.
No official event will be held at the recruit training center to avoid ‘on-site congestion.’
Taeyong is the first NCT member to head off to the military. His bandmate Taeil got hurt in a motorcycle crash last August, breaking his right thigh. The enlistment got delayed to permit time for recuperation following surgery.
In January, Taeyong went through a military band application interview, contending with 6 others for a single vocal spot. Despite a severe herniated disc in his back, he showed a strong determination to enlist.
Among three songs, one was selected as his choice, and Taeyong performed his own song, showcasing his impressive singing abilities, leading to his success in the final interview on February 23.
On the work front, he took part in the NCT 127 tour in Bangkok, Thailand on January 28-29 and dropped his second solo album TAP on February 26.
