NewJeans has launched a separate social media account, “JeanzForFree,” amidst their highly publicized contract dispute with ADOR.
As tensions escalate, the label has issued a response, claiming that the decision was made without their knowledge.
On December 14, NewJeans members made a bold move towards independence by opening a new social media account, “Jeanzforfree”. This comes after their recent notification to terminate their contract with agency ADOR.
They are sharing content on the newly launched social media instead of the existing NewJeans platforms set up and managed by ADOR. Minji, Haerin, Hyein, Danielle, and Hanni are posting updates frequently on their new Instagram account, with followers reaching over 3+ million.
Regarding NewJeans’ recent actions, an ADOR representative stated, “NewJeans has official social media channels, including a dedicated platform and Instagram and X (Twitter) accounts, created for fan communication. We hope the members will continue to interact with fans through these official channels.”
The official added, “Any accounts opened outside of ADOR’s official NewJeans social media channels were created without prior consent. We’ve received inquiries and complaints from third parties, including advertisers, regarding these unofficial accounts and content postings.”
Furthermore, ADOR expressed concerns that “engaging in separate entertainment activities through these unofficial accounts may lead to legal issues.”
NewJeans held a press conference on November 28 to announce the termination of their exclusive contract with ADOR, citing unresolved issues. In response, ADOR filed a lawsuit to confirm the validity of their exclusive contract.
