KAMPFEST CDMX 2023, held at Parque Bicentenario in Mexico City on August 19–20, marked one of Latin America’s biggest K-pop events. Following editions in Singapore and Los Angeles, the festival brought together global K-pop acts for a two-day celebration, with EXO’s Baekhyun headlining the second day.
Day one of KAMPFEST CDMX featured performances from BamBam, Sik-K, Chungha, Hori7on, iKON, Lapillus, and Seulgi. The second day featured Baekhyun, NMIXX, CRAVITY, 8Turn, LimeLight, and Monsta X sub-unit Shownu X Hyungwon. Tickets for the festival sold out rapidly following lineup announcements, which reflects demand for large-scale K-pop events in Mexico.
Baekhyun thrilled fans with a setlist featuring his solo hits and EXO music. Performances of “Candy,” “Betcha,” and “Bambi” highlighted his signature R&B style, while EXO’s “Cream Soda” connected the audience to his group work.
One of the most memorable aspects of the performance was Baekhyun’s embrace of Mexican culture.
Wearing a mariachi hat gifted by fans and kissing the Mexican flag onstage, he created heartfelt moments that resonated deeply. Playfully adjusting the hat and joking, “Is my hair okay?” Baekhyun’s humor made the atmosphere more intimate.
Baekhyun delivered a set that combined vocally demanding ballads with tracks that included complex choreography. His live set included minimal adaptations from recorded versions, with arrangements adjusted slightly for the outdoor venue.
In other news, Baekhyun, along with EXO members Xiumin and Chen, filed legal action against SM Entertainment over long-term contracts and settlement transparency.
SM refuted the claims but later announced on June 19 that the contracts were partially revised to allow the three to remain active in EXO. Earlier this month, Baekhyun revealed via Instagram Live that he founded his own company, One Signature, with choreographer Kasper to train dancers.
