Last month, BELIFT LAB, a label under HYBE, revealed that they have lodged a legal case, alleging that ADOR’s CEO Min Hee Jin obstructed their business and defamed them following the dispute surrounding ILLIT copying NewJeans.
On June 10, BELIFT LAB released a statement, saying “CEO Min used an innocent rookie group as a scapegoat for her own personal gain,” and announced that they have filed an additional civil lawsuit seeking damages for the harm caused to the artists.
Previously, Min Hee Jin won a temporary injunction, therefore, HYBE was blocked by the court from dismissing her. Regarding this, the representative of the label shared, “This is not a ruling on a plagiarism issue. It should not be distorted if CEO Min won the ruling on the plagiarism case.”
The label mentioned that one tactic CEO Min used to exert pressure on HYBE was to criticize the new groups within the same HYBE label as ‘idiots’ or impostors. This behavior was not only related to the plagiarism issue but also included baseless allegations and was meant to disrupt activities.
Furthermore, they shared that while CEO Min hinted at reconciliation in the second press conference, she did not make an effort to make amends.
They went on to say, “CEO Min ostensibly made a gesture of reconciliation at the press conference, but in reality, he did not say a word of apology or reflection to the innocent victims who suffered from serious malicious comments due to his actions.”
In a long video uploaded on their YouTube channel that day, BELIFT LAB representatives shared their stance on the plagiarism accusation made against ILLIT.
