Jennie has recorded the second-highest 1st-day sales by female K-pop artist with her latest release.
The BLACKPINK star released her first-ever studio album “Ruby” on Friday, March 7. This is also her first physical album release in her 8 years as a musician.
Despite the hype surrounding the release of “Ruby”, the album’s sales fell short of expectations. Many predicted it would become a million-seller on release day, but it did not achieve that milestone.
Jennie’s 15-track album “Ruby” sold 386,086 copies on release day, March 7. This is the 2nd highest 1st-day sales by a female K-pop soloist, only surpassed by Jisoo’s 2023 single album “ME” (876,249). For the year 2025 so far, it is the highest opening day sale recorded by a K-pop artist.
Among the BLACKPINK members, she is the best-selling artist after Jisoo. Jisoo’s latest release “AMORTAGE”, dropped on Valentine’s Day, recorded 385,501 copies. Rosé’s acclaimed album “rosie” sold 316,963 copies on the release date.
Lisa’s album “ALTER EGO” was the lowest-selling album on Hanteo, recording 30,400 copies on the first date. Since most of Lisa’s fans purchased the album through her official website, it did not count toward the total sales.
Coming back to the subject “like JENNIE” serves as the title of the studio album. This intense hip-hop track has surpassed over 5 million views on YouTube within 11 hours of release.
The album debuted at #3 on US iTunes and reached the Top 10 in Australia, Brazil, Japan, and France. It topped the iTunes Album chart in Laos, Hong Kong, Macau, Singapore, Saudi Arabia, Mongolia, and more.
Three of the pre-release singles from “Ruby” already charted on Billboard HOT 100, and fans are hoping Jennie scores her personal best with the title track.
The album also features a collaboration with pop star Dua Lipa on the song “Handlebars”. Jennie and Dua Lipa’s collaborative song debuted at #139 on US iTunes.
Moreover, “Ruby” has already surpassed 1 million streams on domestic music platform Melon.
Meanwhile, Jennie has kicked off her intimate concert series “The Ruby Experience” in LA on March 6 (local time). She will hold another show in Los Angeles before moving on to New York on March 10. Jennie will conclude this series in Korea on March 15.
