BLACKPINK’s Lisa Garners Praise for Celebrating Thai Culture in ‘ROCKSTAR’ MV

BLACKPINK’s Lisa proudly celebrates her Thai heritage in her music and every chance she gets.

The 27-year-old Thai rapper dropped her long-awaited single, ROCKSTAR, on June 28 at 9 AM KST, in collaboration with RCA Records and her personal label, LLOUD.

The MV is causing a stir for her dramatic transformaBLACKPINK’s Lisa Looks Fierce in Second ‘ROCKSTAR’ Teasertion, powerful rap, and most importantly representation of Thai culture.

The video, available on LLOUD’s YouTube channel, features Lisa sporting a stylish star-shaped shirt, flaunting her versatility as a rapper and singer in iconic Bangkok locations like Yaowarat and the New World shopping mall. 

Produced by Ryan Tedder and Sam Homaee, the song boasts her impressive rapping skills and powerful vocals.

The music video, directed by Henry Schofield and choreographed by Sean Bankhead, highlights Lisa’s smooth dance moves while celebrating Thai culture and street life in Bangkok.

Notably, this is not the first time the BLACKPINK star has infused Thai culture into her music. She also incorporated Thai cultural elements in her debut single, LALISA. 

Lilies are praising her for staying true to her roots despite her global fandom. Even though she had the resources to film the MV anywhere globally, she chose Thailand.

Within nearly 2 hours, the music video has already surpassed over 2.6 million views.

She’s not stopping at just releasing a single and has plans to release an album this year.

On another note, she is set to make her acting debut in The White Lotus Season 3, which is being filmed in Thailand.
