June 10, 2025, marked the end of the 18-month mandatory military service for Kim Taehyung (V) and Kim Namjoon (RM). They have stepped back into civilian life as the third and fourth members of the group to fulfill their national duty.
Their discharge brings BTS one step closer to a full-group reunion. After Jimin and Jungkook’s discharge on June 11, only Suga remains (set for release on June 21) before the septet can officially reunite for the first time since 2022.
BTS V and RM Complete Military Duties
Following agency protocols, no public events were held at the military bases in Chuncheon (V) and Hwacheon (RM). BigHit Music had earlier urged fans to refrain from visiting the sites, emphasizing safety concerns due to limited space and the presence of other discharging soldiers.
Instead, the duo greeted fans at the Sports Park in Chuncheon, sharing brief but heartfelt messages about their journey. RM came playing the saxophone, much like he had during Jin’s discharge ceremony, whereas V was holding flowers. They briefly talked to the press before heading out in different vehicles.
RM, who served in the Army’s military band, and V, a member of the elite Special Duty Team (Military Police), were praised for their exemplary service.
Fans worldwide celebrated the milestone with #WelcomeBackV and #WelcomeBackRM trending globally, flooding social media with throwback clips, fan art, and countdowns.

BTS Reunion
With RM and V’s return, attention now turns to BTS FESTA 2025 and their group comeback. The group’s 12th-anniversary celebration is extra special this year with more members returning just in time for the festivities.
HYBE’s CEO hinted at a “new vision” for BTS and revealed that members will need significant time to reflect post-service. Industry insiders predict a late 2025 or early 2026 album, possibly followed by solo projects.
