The investigation into BTS’ SUGA DUI charges takes another step forward this Thursday, as the K-pop idol prepares to face further questioning by authorities.
It was announced on August 11 that the Haegeum rapper will be summoned for a police investigation. Later, Seoul police confirmed that he will appear before authorities for questioning this week.
A police official revealed on August 21 that SUGA (aka Min Yoongi) will undergo further questioning related to his driving under the influence (DUI) charges. The exact timing of his police appearance remains undisclosed.
Notably, authorities have chosen not to arrange a press photo opportunity, where suspects typically face the media and address questions, as previously announced earlier in the week.
SUGA was investigated on August 6 for driving an electric scooter under the influence of alcohol in central Seoul. His blood alcohol level at the time of the incident was 0.227%, far exceeding the 0.08% threshold for driver’s license revocation.
The incident drew criticism when the 31-year-old rapper and his agency seemed to minimize the severity of the situation by using the term ‘electric kickboard. However, the agency later apologized and acknowledged that they would accept responsibility based on the authorities’ decision.
Suga is currently fulfilling his military service obligations as a social service agent, which allows him to maintain a regular schedule. He is expected to complete his service in June next year and resume activities with BTS.
