Former K-pop star Jung Joon Young, who was convicted and served time for his involvement in the Burning Sun scandal, has been spotted out and about in Lyon, France.
Recent photos have emerged showing Jung Joon Young socializing with women at a nightclub in France, raising questions about his behavior and actions since his release from prison.
On July 8, an update on his current whereabouts in Lyon, France, surfaced on social media and online forums. A netizen shared a chance encounter with the former K-pop star at a club, where he offered to take a wrong drink order off their hands and struck up a conversation.
The netizen claimed that he was hitting on women in the club, asking for their Instagram accounts, and saw him kissing a French woman.
He introduced himself as a famous Korean singer Joon to the girls in the club and revealed his plans to open a Korean restaurant in Lyon. The person who gave an update on his whereabouts shared that he’s traveling around Europe looking for work and is departing for Switzerland soon.
Moreover, they shared that he was sporting long hair and a beard, smiling and chatting with women in the club.
Jung Joon Young was found guilty in the Burning Sun scandal in March 2019 for secretly filming and sharing non-consensual sex videos in a chat room with other K-pop stars, including BIGBANG’s Seungri. He was later indicted for raping unconscious women in 2016.
Initially sentenced to six years in prison, his sentence was reduced to five years on appeal in May 2020. Following his release in March 2024, he has plans to move abroad to start a new life.
However, his recent public appearance has sparked criticism from fans, who feel that he has not learned from his past mistakes and is not making amends or showing any signs of remorse or redemption.
