Over the years, his dramas have touched the hearts of millions around the world. Whether he’s making us laugh, cry, or swoon, Cha Eunwoo always knows how to leave a lasting impression. Let’s take a look at some of his most memorable roles and the stories behind them.

My ID Is Gangnam Beauty (2018)

This drama was a major turning point for Cha Eunwoo. It was his first lead role, and the one that truly put him on the map as an actor. He played Do Kyung Suk, a popular but cold-looking college student who doesn’t care about appearances.

The story follows Kang Mi Rae, a girl who gets plastic surgery after being bullied for her looks. She hopes to start fresh in college but soon discovers that beauty alone doesn’t solve everything. Kyung Suk slowly bonds with her and helps her rediscover her self-worth.

True Beauty (2020–2021)

True Beauty became one of the biggest K-dramas of its year, and Cha Eunwoo’s role as Lee Soo Ho played a big part in its success.

The drama follows Lim Ju Kyung, a girl who becomes famous at school after mastering makeup to hide her insecurities. Soo Ho discovers her bare face but doesn’t judge her, and the two develop a sweet bond.

Along the way, viewers saw a deeper side of Soo Ho as he dealt with grief, friendship, and young love. The bromance between Soo Ho and Seo Joon (Hwang In Youp) also became a fan-favorite part of the series.

Rookie Historian Goo Hae-Ryung (2019)

This was Eunwoo’s first historical drama, and fans were thrilled to see him in hanbok for the first time. He truly looked like a royal.

It tells the story of Goo Hae Ryung, a determined young woman who becomes a female historian during the Joseon era. Cha Eunwoo plays Prince Lee Rim, a hidden-away prince who secretly writes romance novels. Though lonely, he finds comfort and understanding in Hae Ryung as they uncover palace secrets and grow closer.

Island (2022–2023)

Island showed a completely different side of the idol-actor. Many fans and critics believe this is his strongest acting performance so far.

The story revolves around a dark battle against evil forces on Jeju Island. Cha Eunwoo plays Priest Kang Chan Hyuk (also known as Yo Han), a young exorcist with a troubled past. He fights alongside Pan (Kim Nam Gil) and Mi Ho (Lee Da Hee) to stop powerful demons threatening the island.

A Good Day to Be a Dog (2023)

Fans who have been waiting for his next drama were excited when he announced this series.

The drama tells the story of a woman, played by Park Gyu Young, cursed to turn into a dog whenever she kisses someone. The only person who can break the curse is a man who is terrified of dogs—played by Cha Eunwoo.

Cha Eunwoo has grown so much as an actor in just nine years. From romantic leads to fantasy action roles, he continues to take on new challenges while charming audiences everywhere. As we celebrate his journey, let us know—which Cha Eunwoo drama is your favorite?
