NewJeans members can not seem to catch a break after the HYBE-ADOR conflict!
In the latest development, a Chinese fan shared a lengthy post on Weibo, detailing her painful encounter with NewJeans’ Hanni.
Without directly naming the 20-year-old idol, the fan included a photo that seemingly pointed to Hanni as the one involved in the upsetting encounter.
On October 4, the Chinese fan shared a long post on Weibo, which has now gained hundreds of comments and likes.
In her post, she shared, “I met someone who was a member of a girl group I really like offline. Let me clarify, I actually like another member more, but I still had a good impression of this member too… because of her behavior at this offline event, I ended up crying for a long time and asked my friend if I did something wrong.”
The fan added, “This group is a female idol group going through a difficult period… I do not dare to openly call her out, though I am scared of how her fans might react and criticize me.”
She recounted the incident, saying, “It has been days since it happened, but those scenes are still replaying in my head…Because of the event’s nature, there were a lot of people, so I bought a ladder to take her photos, carrying it around and waiting for 8 hours… But this is common at offline events, and I voluntarily went through it, so I am not complaining about that at all… What hurt was seeing her warmly smile and sign autographs for 4 or 5 foreign visitors, even asking for their names. However, most of these foreigners were just there for fun and were not really her fans. My friend stayed with me the whole time, and I continued waiting alone until she left the event.
I called out to her, but she did not even turn her head. It was not about not getting an autograph; I could always pay for one here in the country… The problem was her attitude… I told her, “I came from China and waited for 8 hours…” but she still did not turn back. I asked my friend if maybe she was just too tired, but no matter how tired you are, if someone calls your name within a 10-meter distance, you’d at least glance, right?
All my friends who watched the video said she was rude and lacked character… How can someone act so differently in private?… After being ignored, I slowed my pace, holding back tears, and my friend took me home… I kept replaying events in my head, did I do something wrong? Maybe if there was not a video of her treating the foreigners nicely, I might not have felt as hurt.”
Netizens have been calling out Hanni for discrimination and her treatment of the Chinese fan.
On another note, NewJeans members gave an ultimatum to HYBE to restore ADOR to its original structure and reinstate Min Hee Jin by September 25. While an extension of Min Hee Jin’s production contract was proposed, she was not reinstated as a CEO.
