On August 6, Cube Entertainment released an official statement, stating, “Some media reports regarding the stage performance of Soyeon’s solo song ‘Is this bad b****** number?’ are not true, and we have not made any official statement.

Accordingly, our company is issuing an official statement with an apology for causing concern to many people who show love and interest to artist Soyeon and (G)I-DLE by allowing personal opinions to spread like an official statement.”

The label admitted about the new lyrics of Seyeon’s song, “We were aware of the stage performance and lyrics of ‘Is this bad b****** number?’ in advance.”

Cube Entertainment mentioned that they are amicably discussing the current renewal with the (G)I-DLE members.

During her solo stage at the first concert of their world tour iDOL, the (G)I-DLE leader changed the lyrics of the song, Is this bad b****** number? to hint that her contract is expiring in November.

Earlier, Cube Entertainment responded to concerns about her rap lyrics by stating that the line was simply a part of her solo stage performance and not indicative of any contract issues. They also confirmed that Soyeon and all (G)I-DLE members will be renewing their contracts in the coming year.

Earlier, on August 6, Soyeon took to social media to address the controversy. She clarified that her performance and rap referencing the end of her exclusive contract were not spontaneous, and the agency was aware of it.

(G)I-DLE is Cube Entertainment’s major artist, and they can not afford to lose, especially when many artists have already left the agency. It was reported that the label has raised around 36 billion won to negotiate contract renewal with members.
