Park Seo Joon and Won Ji An are confirmed to be starring together in a brand-new romance drama.
On March 25, JTBC confirmed the cast lineup and broadcast details for the upcoming drama “Waiting for Gyeongdo” (literal title). The star-studded cast includes Park Seo Joon, Won Ji An, Lee El, Lee Joo Young, Kang Ki Dong, and Jo Min Kook. The drama is generating buzz as Park Seo Joon returns to the romance genre since his appearance in “What’s Wrong with Secretary Kim” (2018).
‘Waiting for Gyeongdo’ Plot
Park Seo Joon and Won Ji An star in JTBC’s ‘Waiting for Gyeongdo’, a romantic comedy about two former lovers who reconnect years later. They had previously dated twice, at ages 20 and 28, but broke up both times. Now, they meet again under complicated circumstances: he is a reporter covering a scandal, and she’s the wife of the man at the center of it.
Cast and Characters
- Park Seo Joon as Lee Gyeong Do, an entertainment reporter at Dongwoon Daily News. Lee Gyeong Do’s life is turned upside down when he runs into his ex-girlfriend Seo Ji Woo. She is now embroiled in a scandal involving her husband’s affair. Lee Gyeong Do is a regular office worker living a straightforward life. At 20, he met Seo Ji Woo in college, at a theater club, and they fell in love. She was his first love, but they broke up. Years later, they gave their relationship another try when Lee Gyeong Do was 28, but ultimately parted ways again. Park Seo Joon is known for his roles in “Concrete Utopia”, “Itaewon Class”, “Fight For My Way”, “What’s Wrong with Secretary Kim”, and more.
- Won Ji An stars as Seo Ji-woo, a wealthy heiress whose life turns upside down when her husband’s affair is exposed by her ex-boyfriend. Won Ji An recently rose to global fame with her appearance in the globally popular Netflix original “Squid Game 2”.
- Lee El plays Seo Ji Yeon, the older sister who adores Seo Ji Woo. As the CEO of Jarim Apparel, Seo Ji Yeon is calm and intelligent as opposed to her scandalous younger sister. Lee El recently starred in “Mr. Plankton” and “When The Stars Gossip”.
- Lee Joo Young plays Park Se Young, who was part of the same theater club as Lee Gyeong Do and Seo Ji Woo. She is now the director of an art academy and the wife of Cha Woo Sik. Park also remains involved with the theater club. Lee Joo Young is known for her roles in “The 8 Show”, “House of Lies”, “Phantom”, and more.
- Kang Ki Dong plays Cha Woo Sik, a romantic husband devoted to his wife, Park Se Young. His notable acting credits include “King The Land”, “Crash”, “Reborn Rich”, and more.
- Jo Min Kook plays Lee Jung Min, a used car businessman who keeps the theater club friends connected. He has gained recognition for her roles in “Melo Movie”, “Tell Me That You Love Me”, “Behind Your Touch”, and more.
The story follows five friends who met in college through the Jiri-myo-ryeol theater club. The group consists of Lee Gyeong Do (Park Seo Joon), Seo Ji Woo (Won Ji An), Park Se Young (Lee Joo Young), Cha Woo Sik (Kang Ki Dong), and Lee Jung Min (Jo Min Kook). Despite being in their 30s, their friendship remains strong.
Creative Team
The drama is directed by Im Hyun Suk, who previously directed “King The Land”, “Reflection of You”, and more. The script is penned by Yoo Young Ah, known for writing “On Our Wedding Day”, “Thirty-Nine”, “Encounter”, and more.
Release Date
The new drama “Waiting for Gyeongdo” will premiere on JTBC, first broadcast is expected in 2026.
