fromis_9 members are looking for new agencies since parting ways with PLEDIS last year. The 8-member group has not officially disbanded yet however, the future of the group is uncertain if members sign with different agencies.
Previously, there were reports that Big Planet Made Entertainment had signed contracts with five fromis_9 members, which the agency itself later denied.
On January 26, ASND announced that they had secured exclusive contracts with five members of the popular K-pop group fromis_9. The newly signed artists include Song Hayoung, Park Jiwon, Lee Nakyung, Lee Chaeyoung, and Baek Jiheon.
ASND expressed gratitude to the five members stating, “It must have taken a lot of thought and courage to continue team activities.” They continued, “We will provide unwavering support and encouragement so that the artists can pursue their dreams.”
The label announced various activities for their new start, including solo performances.
The use of the group name “fromis_9” remains uncertain, as discussions with former agency PLEDIS Entertainment are ongoing. Fans will have to wait for an official announcement regarding the group’s name.
Fromis_9 burst onto the K-pop scene in 2017, formed through Mnet’s ‘Idol School’. Originally a nine-member girl group, they quickly won over fans with their unique charm.
Their debut mini-album ‘To. Heart’ dropped in 2018, generating buzz for its unique concept. However, the group’s lineup underwent a change in July 2022, when Jang Gyuri departed.
The biggest shake-up came on December 31, 2023, when fromis_9’s contract with Pledis Entertainment expired.
After the exclusive contract expired, fans wondered if the group would continue as a whole or disband to pursue solo activities. Ultimately, five members chose to keep the group alive and make a comeback with a new agency. The future plans of the remaining three members remain under wraps.
The five members are set to release new music and perform at solo concerts, according to ASND. As the new fromis_9’s chapter begins, fans are excited to see the members’ growth in their new endeavors regardless of the name they perform under.
