From BLACKPINK’s Jisoo to NCT’s Jaehyun and EXO’s Suho: Kpop Idols Set to Conquer the Acting World

These days, idol stars are showcasing their versatility by taking on acting roles in addition to their music careers. 2024 is an exciting year for K-pop fans as many of their favorite idols have taken on thrilling acting roles.

It’s only the start of the year and we’re already getting news of so many famous idols landing roles in series and movies. 

We’ve gathered a list of idol stars who are ready to impress fans with their acting skills.

BLACKPINK’s Jisoo

On January 24, Jisoo from BLACKPINK officially announced that she’ll be starring in the movie Omniscient Reader’s Viewpoint. After her successful debut in Snowdrop, she’s all set to build up her acting career. 

Omniscient Reader’s Viewpoint is based on a popular web novel. In the drama, Ahn Hyo Seop plays the character Kim Dok-ja, who is the only person aware of the ending of the novel. He teams up with Lee Min-ho’s character, Yoo Jung-hyuk, the protagonist of the novel, to save the world.

Jisoo will be playing the character Lee Ji-hye, who goes through various challenges alongside Yoo Jung-hyuk in the novel. She’ll be working with Lee Min Ho, Ahn Hyo Seop, Nana, and Shin Seung-ho. Filming for this highly anticipated movie already began in December last year.

In addition, the Flower singer revealed during her interaction with a fan at the airport that she will be starring in a zombie thriller, Influenza.

Jaehyun of NCT

Last July, it was confirmed that Jaehyun from NCT would be starring in the movie You’ll Die in 6 Hours. Just recently, Triple Pictures released the main still for overseas sales on January 25, creating a lot of buzz.

After the completion of post-production work for You’ll Die in 6 Hours, the film will be showcased at the EFM (European Film Market) in February. This is a big step towards its release in South Korea and its entry into the global market.

You’ll Die in 6 Hours is based on a Japanese novel. It tells the story of characters who have precognitive abilities and struggle to defy their fates. Jaehyun is taking on the role of Junwoo, the main character who can see his own death in advance. It is going to be his first time acting on the big screen.

You Will Die in 6 Hours is set to be released in the latter half of this year.

Suho of EXO

Suho from EXO will also be appearing in the drama The Crown Prince Disappeared. Recently, they revealed photos from the script reading session on January 26, which got a lot of attention. 

The Crown Prince Disappeared’ is a romantic comedy set in the Joseon era. It’s all about the adventurous escape of a young man and woman as they navigate through some turbulent times. 

Suho, who will be playing the role of Crown Prince Lee Kun, has already showcased his acting skills in musicals and dramas. Now, everyone is eagerly anticipating how he will bring this character to life in his first-ever historical drama.

The Crown Prince Disappeared is going to premiere on March 9.

Lastly, there are reports that BLACKPINK’s Lisa may make her acting debut in The Walking Dead: Daryl Dixon Season 2. However, it is worth noting that it is not officially confirmed by Lisa or the production team of the series.
