fromis_9 to Make First Comeback as 5-Member Group in June

fromis_9 is back with a five-member lineup and a June comeback!

The K-pop girl group originally had 8 members under PLEDIS Entertainment, but only 5 members decided to continue as a group when their contract ended.

The revamped lineup, consisting of Jiwon, Baek Jiheon, Song Ha Young, Chaeyoung, and Lee Na Kyung, has begun preparing for a comeback in June.

This marks a new chapter in their journey as this will be fromis_9’s first comeback since leaving PLEDIS Entertainment and signing with ASND. Fans are eagerly awaiting their return, and the members are working hard to make it a special one.

Fans have been speculating about fromis_9’s comeback, and it appears they’ve found a clue. Last month, ASND uploaded new member profiles on X, with the first letter of each profile spelling out “A COME BACK IN JUNE”.

Notably, ASND has declined to comment on their June comeback as a 5-member group stating that nothing has been confirmed.

The members’ profiles were uploaded on a unique schedule – each one was posted on the member’s birthday. Additionally, the mood film was released at a meaningful time: 1:24 PM, which matches the group’s debut date of January 24. These carefully planned details show that fromis_9 is leaving subtle clues for fans to find.

Formed through Mnet’s ‘Idol School’ audition program in September 2017, Fromis_9 made their music industry debut on January 24, 2018, with their debut single ‘To Heart’. Since then, the group has won fans over with their upbeat melodies and bright lyrics in hits like ‘Stay This Way’, ‘We Go’, ‘DM’, and ‘Supersonic’. 

The group has undergone multiple lineup changes and Jang Gyuri was the first member to leave after her contract with PLEDIS Entertainment expired in 2022.

After their exclusive contracts with PLEDIS expired last year, the five members signed with ASND and are now gearing up for their next move. The remaining members Roh Jisun, Lee Saerom, and Seoyeon have yet to announce how they will pursue their future activities.

fromis_9 faced a challenging time with their former agency over trademark issues. Fortunately, the issue was resolved amicably, and PLEDIS agreed to transfer the trademark to the group. On February 26, ASND announced that fromis_9 would retain their original name, and requested continued support and interest in their future endeavors.
