Cube Entertainment is putting in all efforts to keep (G)I-DLE under its wing!
While it is not known about the contract extension of other members, (G)I-DLE leader Soyeon is reported to leave once the contract expires.
From October 25-27, (G)I-DLE held concerts in Macau at Galaxy Arena as part of their world tour “i-DOL.”
During the concert, a fan held a placard with “Cube Goes Bankrupt” written on it. Yuqi and Soyeon were quite stunned to see the sign and then burst into laughter. First, the (G)I-DLE leader did not understand and then Yuqi explained it to her.
A few days back, it was reported by a Korean media outlet that the 26-year-old K-pop idol will not renew her contract with Cube Entertainment. As per reports, she is approached by countless agencies and may join Zico’s KOZ Entertainment.
In response to the rumors, Cube Entertainment stated that they are still discussing contract extension and scheduled activities and the world tour will proceed irrespective of the contract renewal.
In August, Cube Entertainment and Jeon Soyeon got into a public spat over the contract rap during a Seoul concert, hinting at contract expiration in November.
The label initially denied knowledge of the modified lyrics, however, Soyeon disputed this, stating she had notified the label. Cube later issued an apology.
It was previously reported that the agency raised 36.5 billion won to negotiate a contract extension with (G)-IDLE. They are largely dependent on (G)I-DLE as they are solely the most successful artists under the label.
Many artists have left Cube Entertainment in the past few months and it is expected that (G)I-DLE may not renew individual contracts with them.
The agency manages LIGHTSUM, NOWADAYS, PENTAGON, CLC, and more.
On the work front, (G)I-DLE will next hold concerts in Melbourne and Sydney on October 31 and November 1.
