(G)I-DLE returns to shake things up!
Fans are thrilled as the 5-member girl group is making a comeback after 10 months.
Today (April 9), it was exclusively reported by Daily Sports that (G)I-DLE is making a comeback in mid-May. A couple of hours later, their agency Cube Entertainment confirmed their long-awaited comeback, stating, “The members are currently preparing a new album with the goal of coming back next month. We ask for your great anticipation.”
In particular, this will be their first comeback after renewing the exclusive contract with Cube Entertainment. The group publicly announced contract renewal on November 30, 2024, during an acceptance speech at MMA 2024. On December 2, 2024, the label confirmed that they completed contract renewals with all members.
This comeback will mark their first return in approximately 10 months, following the release of their 7th mini-album “I Sway” in July last year. The album became a million-seller in the first week of release, selling 1,026, 973 copies. As per reports, (G)I-DLE will release their 8th mini-album.
Notably, this is not going to be the first activity from the group this year. They kicked off the year on a strong note with Minnie making her solo debut with mini-album “HER” in January. The album sold 193, 212 copies in the first week and debuted at #3 on the Worldwide iTunes Album chart.
On March 17, another (G)I-DLE member Yuqi released a self-composed digital single “ “Radio (Dum-Dum)”.
G)I-DLE is a self-producing group, with leader Jeon Soyeon at the helm, actively participating in the production of their albums. The group has a string of hit songs under their belt, including “LATATA,” “Hwaa,” “Tomboy,” “Nxde,” and “Queencard.”
Their chart-topping success continued last year with popular tracks like “Super Lady,” “Fate,” and “Klaxon.” (G)I-DLE’s success was further recognized with prestigious awards, including the Grand Record Award at the 1st Korea Grand Music Awards and the Record of the Year Award (Daesang) at the 2024 MMA.
In 2024, (G)I-DLE made waves with their daring music and lyrics. Ahead of their latest comeback, leader Soyeon revealed during a fancall that the group’s new concept would be represented by the dramatic colors blue and black. Fans are expecting some groundbreaking music from the group, the announcement will likely be made in the coming days.
