On November 30, the group attended the 2024 Melon Music Awards (MMA) and took home Record of the Year (Daesang) and Top 10 Artist awards.

During their acceptance speech, Soyeon, the (G)I-DLE leader, assured fans who were concerned about the group’s future. Previously at the MAMA Awards, she quashed rumors of (G)I-DLE’s disbandment during her rap performance.

Soyeon confirmed the contract renewal, saying, “Recently, because my contract ended, there have been a lot of articles about IDLE disbanding or ending. The 5 of us, not just me, all of us together, have decided to renew our contracts.

Not me alone! All five of us members together. In the future, next year, three years later, forever, the five of us will be together so I hope Nebobo don’t worry. Next year we will repay you with even better music. Thank you very much, we will become IDLE who works even harder in the future.”

Soyeon’s exclusive contract with Cube Entertainment expired this month which led to speculation about her next move.

She announced the end of her contract during a solo concert, followed by a provocative performance at the Mnet Asian Music Awards (MAMA) that hinted at a possible falling out with Cube.

Despite the rift between the two sides, she has chosen to stay with Cube Entertainment. The rest of the (G)I-DLE members (Yuqi, Shuhua, Minnie, and Miyeon), who still had time left on their contracts, have also decided to renew.

With the promise of better music by (G)I-DLE members, fans are looking forward to their upcoming group and solo activities.
