Jackson’s recent statement about trusting only himself and his desire to retire in five years have led to speculation about the future of GOT7. Fans have been discussing whether this could potentially indicate the group’s disbandment.
On January 5, the Chinese media outlet ‘China Daily’ reported that Jackson, a member of the idol group GOT7, discussed retirement in an interview with the fashion magazine Harper’s BAZAAR.
In a recent interview, Jackson opened up about his struggles with severe depression, expressing that he feels a lack of support and relies solely on himself. Turning 30 this year, he also mentioned the idea of retirement, stating that he wants to explore new endeavors after he turns 35.
Regarding his retirement, he said, ‘After I turn 35, I want to go backstage or do something new.’
In addition, Jackson expressed his dedication to his music career, mentioning that his biggest disappointment since his debut was not being able to produce a hit song. However, he remains optimistic, believing that one day more people will connect with his music.
Jackson has been primarily active in China and has not been doing any activities in Korea since 2022. Prior to his music career, Jackson was also involved in fencing and made his debut as a member of GOT7 under JYP Entertainment in 2014.
