Rising K-drama star Han So Hee (“Nevertheless,” “Gyeongseong Creature”) is reportedly in discussions to take on the lead role in the upcoming Korean remake of the hit Hollywood film “The Intern”.
If confirmed, she would step into the shoes of Anne Hathaway, who originally played Jules Ostin, the ambitious founder of a fashion startup who forms an unlikely bond with a retired intern (Robert De Niro).
On May 9, her agency, 9ato Entertainment, stated to Daily Sports that “‘The Intern’ is one of the projects we’re currently reviewing.”
Directed by Nancy Meyers, the 2015 film “The Intern” revolves around a young CEO who hires a 70-year-old intern. Han So Hee is considered for Anne Hathaway’s CEO role in the Korean remake of “The Intern”. Veteran actor Choi Min Sik was previously considered for Robert De Niro’s part.
Han So Hee has built a solid filmography with roles in “Gyeongseong Creature,” “Soundtrack #1,” “My Name,” and “Nevertheless”.
Before the confirmation and finalization of the cast, the 31-year-old actress will meet viewers with a new drama “Project Y”. This highly anticipated movie follows two same-aged friends who hatch a daring plan to steal gold bars worth $5.7 million in the affluent Gangnam district of Seoul.
The movie also stars Jeon Jong Seo, Kim Shin Rok, YooA, and Kim Sung Cheol, scheduled to release later this year.
