Hwasa is gearing up for her first solo comeback under P Nation next month. This marks her first solo return in almost two years, and teaser photos shared on August 28 and 29 showed her posing with pink alphabet-shaped balloons.
It is confirmed that she will release the single, “I Love My Body” on Wednesday, September 6, 2023.
In June, Hwasa signed with P Nation after her contract with RBW ended. The moment was made public during PSY’s “SUMMER SWAG 2023” concert, where she signed her contract on stage.
The MAMAMOO member later explained that she wanted a new environment and a fresh start. She said PSY’s focus on her individual goals and his supportive, family-like approach made the decision easy.
Her new song, “I Love My Body,” carries a simple but strong message. PSY sent her the track without much prior discussion, and she connected with it right away. Hwasa described the message as broader than physical confidence.
For her, it is about accepting and appreciating herself as a whole. She also noted that the sound of the track feels both trendy and nostalgic and reminds her of MAMAMOO’s early years.
Hwasa debuted as a solo artist in 2019 with digital single, Twit, however, her breakout hit was the record-smashing, María, released in 2020. In addition, she has sung multiple OSTs, collaborated with fellow K-pop artists, and even featured on Dua Lipa’s remix of Physical.
