On September 17, the María singer appeared as a guest on Jonathan’s YouTube show, The K Star Next Door. She guested on the show to promote her album, O, dropping on September 19.

Looking back on her trainee days, Hwasa shared a surprising revelation about the time she nearly got cut as a trainee.

On the show, she revealed, “I weighed 60kg when I was a trainee, my boss told me to lose weight down to 48kg. I did my best and reduced it down to 49kg.”

Shockingly, the 29-year-old K-pop singer was nearly let go as a trainee despite being only 1kg shy of the required weight.

She added, “Yet he still wanted to fire me so I got upset at my boss. After a bout with him, I wrote a song about my feelings, the title was ‘My Heart.’”

Hwasa revealed the song’s lyrics, which went, “So what if I don’t look too pretty, why would I hide? I am enjoying myself plenty, just as I am, I do me.”

She shared that while her boss was expecting an apology, he got a song instead. However, he began to like her a little more after he received his song My Heart, conveying her honest feelings.

On the work front, Hwasa’s second mini-album will be available on all streaming platforms on September 19.
