The success of “Ruby” isn’t limited to its sales numbers, Jennie is also getting tons of love from fans and earning praise from critics. Everyone is raving about her talent and creativity after the release of her solo studio album “Ruby” on March 7.
According to the Hanteo Chart, it sold an impressive 661,130 copies in just one week (March 7 to March 13) after its release. This achievement earns Jennie the highest initial sales among K-pop female solo artists this year. In addition, “Ruby” ranks third among the highest-selling first-week album sales by K-pop female soloists in Hanteo’s history.
Notably, “Ruby” recorded 386,086 copies on release day, the second highest 1st-day sales by a female K-soloist. She was only surpassed by her BLACKPINK groupmate Jisoo’s single album “ME”, which recorded 876,249.
Notably, Jisoo is the only BLACKPINK member with a million-seller album. Her single album “ME” sold 1,172,351 copies in the first week. In addition, Lisa’s single album “LALISA” recorded 736,219 copies in week 1. “Ruby” ranks 3rd with 661,130 copies sold in the first week.
With “Ruby”, Jennie became the first K-pop solo artist to reach the US Apple Music Top Albums chart, ranking #9. Additionally, she is the highest-ranking K-pop female solo artist on the European Apple Music Top Albums chart, at #2.
The title track “like JENNINE” is rapidly climbing domestic and international charts. Notably, it topped major Korean music platforms and entered Spotify’s “Daily Top Song Global” chart at 12th.
In addition to the title song, b-sides from the “Ruby” album, such as “Handlebars” (feat. Dua Lipa), “ExtraL” (feat. Doechii), and “Love Hangover” (feat. Dominic Fike), are also ranking high on major charts.
Meanwhile, to celebrate the release of “Ruby”, Jennie will host “The Ruby Experience” at Inspire Arena in Incheon on March 15.
