Jeon Somi has made a shocking revelation about her hair loss struggles. In a candid interview on Hyeri’s YouTube channel, she shared how her DIY hair care routine went horribly wrong, causing her hair to fall out and leaving a gaping hole.
On August 16, the 23-year-old K-pop star sat down with Hyeri to promote her latest release, Ice Cream.
On the show Hyell’s Club, she revealed the severe hair loss she suffered in response to a fan question about how she takes care of her scalp.
Jeon So-mi shared that she has been bleaching her hair for 3 years and takes care of it at home, without visiting a dermatologist.
She confessed, “I did not take care of my scalp but recently when I sing “Fast Forward”, I dried and dyed my hair too often, and one day, my hair was totally damaged after dying it wrong.”
Somi further revealed, “I had a big hole in the back, it was the most depressing period of my life.”
Jeon Somi also shared that she underwent hair growth treatment to thicken hair and treat hair loss. She admitted to using hair irons, thinking it would help with hair loss, but later learned the importance of proper scalp care. After her hair loss experience, she became more consistent with taking supplements and prioritizing her scalp health.
The hole at the back of her head is not completely covered yet but it has become smaller due to consistent scalp care.
On the work front, Jeon Somi released her special summer single, Ice Cream, on August 2.
