On January 9, Korean media outlets reported that Ji Chang Wook is set to star as the male lead in the upcoming series The Mantis.

The Mantis is a thrilling series that tells the story of a woman who is imprisoned for her past crimes as a serial killer. However, someone starts imitating her and carries out a new series of murders. This drama is actually a remake of the French original called La Mante. It gained a lot of attention when it was released on Netflix in December 2017.

Previously, there were reports about Go Hyun-jung being considered for the lead role in the domestic remake of The Mantis. This project is a co-production between Merry Christmas and Mega Monster. They’re planning to start full-scale production within this year.

Currently, Ji Chang Wook is getting rave reviews for his passionate portrayal of the main character in the JTBC drama Welcome to Samdal-ri. In the show, he plays the role of Cho Yong-pil, a weather forecaster at the Jeju Meteorological Administration.
