KATSEYE, the global girl group from HYBE and Geffen Records, is proving that the K-pop system can thrive far beyond Korea. Just a year into their career, they now have two songs back-to-back on the Billboard Hot 100.
According to the Billboard HOT 100 chart (dated July 5), their new track Gabriela from Beautiful Chaos, landed at No. 94, while Gnarly is still hanging on at No. 98 for its fourth week. Gabriela is picking up steam worldwide too, ranking 24th on Billboard’s Global (Excl. US) and 30th on the Global 200, beating Gnarly’s previous best.
In May, pre-release single, Gnarly, debuted at #92 on Billboard HOT 100 and peaked at No. 90. In addition, it debuted at #47 on Billboard Global 200 and rose to No. 49 this week.
Their momentum doesn’t stop there. Over in the UK, Gabriela just entered the Official Singles Chart at No. 42, jumping 10 spots higher than Gnarly did when it debuted. On Spotify’s Global Top 200, they have Gabriela (#12), Gnarly (#59), and their new title track Gameboy (#121), all charting at once.
Fans and insiders see this as proof that HYBE’s “K-pop training system” can translate to the US and UK. Chairman Bang Si Hyuk has talked about taking K-pop’s full system, from trainee discovery to tight production and branding, and planting it right in the heart of the pop industry. So far, it’s working.
What sets KATSEYE apart is their sharp performances and bold styling, mixing polished K-pop energy with a fresh global pop vibe. Billboard readers are already backing them — Gabriela and their new EP Beautiful Chaos topped the site’s fan poll for favorite new release two weeks in a row.
Beautiful Chaos is projected to open at No. 5 on the Billboard 200 with around 40,000 units, which would make it KATSEYE’s highest debut on the chart so far.
In the meantime, j-hope has spent two consecutive weeks on Billboard HOT 100 with Killin’ It Girl (ft. GloRilla), charting at #90 this week. Rosé and Bruno Mars’ APT. has now spent 36 weeks on the HOT 100 and remains at No. 28 this week. It is the longest-charting K-pop song that peaked at No. 3.
Meanwhile, KATSEYE made their debut just a year ago under HYBE and Geffen Records, bringing together six members — Daniela, Lara, Manon, Megan, Sophia, and Yoonchae.
HYBE’s creative team says they are staying flexible, always adjusting and taking risks that keep KATSEYE’s image different — and that edge is what’s helping them win over fans around the world. If this first year is anything to go by, KATSEYE’s just getting started.
