Lee Do Hyun has officially confirmed Grand Galaxy Hotel as his first project since completing his military service last month.
The upcoming drama reunites him with the famed Hong Sisters (Hong Jung Eun and Hong Mi Ran) and director Oh Choong Hwan, the creative team behind the hit series Hotel Del Luna. The series is being produced by Imagineers and is expected to begin filming in the second half of 2025.
His Sweet Home and Youth of May co-star Go Min Si is also in talks to star in the drama, but her appearance is not yet confirmed. Grand Galaxy Hotel was first offered to Cha Eunwoo; however, he turned down the offer due to military enlistment scheduled for July.
On June 26, his agency, Yuehua Entertainment Korea, shared that Lee received offers for various projects but carefully selected Grand Galaxy Hotel as his comeback project.
“We are truly grateful for the flood of offers Lee Do-hyun has been receiving, including commercials. After careful consideration, he has decided to appear in the Grand Galaxy Hotel as his comeback project. As many have waited for his return, we kindly ask for your great anticipation and support.”
According to a report by Korean media outlet Digital Daily, the upcoming drama Grand Galaxy Hotel by renowned screenwriters the Hong sisters will be a Netflix original series. This marks another major collaboration between Netflix and the Hong sisters, following their project Can This Love Be Translated?, set to release this year.
As reported, Grand Galaxy Hotel is expected to tell a story similar in tone to the hit 2019 drama Hotel Del Luna, but from a male perspective. Hotel Del Luna follows the journey of an elite hotelier who ends up managing a mysterious hotel alongside a beautiful yet quirky CEO.
Grand Galaxy Hotel will offer a fresh twist on that concept, with a male lead at the center. Notably, the plot of the drama has not yet been confirmed by the makers.
Lee Do Hyun has built a strong reputation through roles in dramas like 18 Again, Sweet Home, Youth of May, The Glory, and The Good Bad Mother, as well as in the film Exhuma. He received the Best New Actor (film) awards for his performance in Exhuma at the Blue Dragon Film Awards, Baeksang Arts Awards, and Asian Film Awards.
Lee enlisted in the military in February 2023 and served for 21 months as a member of the Air Force military band before being discharged on May 13, 2025.
Meanwhile, Lee Do Hyun will hold fanmeeting Re DO HYUN in Jakarta (June 28), Osaka (July 4), and Tokyo (July 6).
