Rising actor Lee Jae Wook takes on his first-ever dual role and makes a quick acting comeback after starring in Netflix’s Dear Hongrang in May this year. This will be his return to the romance genre after swooning audiences in the Alchemy of Souls series.

Opposite him, Choi Sung Eun is the female lead, so expectations are high for this new on-screen Kdrama couple. The 29-year-old actress returns to the K-drama scene after her last appearance in The Sound of Magic in 2022. Last year, she created quite a stir with her role in the movie My Name is Loh Kiwan opposite Song Joong Ki.

Their new drama Last Summer is set to premiere in a month, so here’s everything the fans need to know.

‘Last Summer’ Release Date and Where to Watch

Last Summer kicks off on November 1, 2025, airing every Saturday and Sunday at 9:20 p.m. KST on KBS2. The finale is scheduled for December 7. While an international streaming platform has not yet been confirmed, fans worldwide are already keeping an eye out for updates, hoping it will land on one of the major platforms for global access.

Plot: Summers, Separation, and Secrets

At the core of Last Summer is the relationship between Baek Do Ha, his twin brother Baek Do Yeong, and their next-door neighbor Song Ha Kyeong.

Because of their parents’ divorce, the twins grew up apart. Do Ha lives in the U.S. but visits Korea every summer for 21 days, staying in a duplex with his father and brother. During these short stays, Do Ha and Ha Kyeong share bittersweet moments filled with arguments, laughter, and growing affection. Ha Kyeong secretly develops feelings for Do Ha, though she never confesses them, knowing his visits are temporary.

Years later, the story shifts to the present. Do Ha is now a talented architect, and Ha Kyeong works as a civil servant in the same field. Their paths cross again, but a painful incident from two years ago has left behind scars and unresolved anger. The drama will explore how they confront the past and navigate their complex present.

Cast and Characters

The drama features a strong lineup of talent:

  • Lee Jae Wook as Baek Do Ha and Baek Do Yeong: Do Ho is the ambitious younger brother who grew up in the U.S., while Do Yeong remains a mystery. Lee has built a name for himself with appearances in The Impossible Heir, Death’s Game, and Alchemy of Souls.
  • Choi Sung Eun as Song Ha Kyeong: A civil servant in architecture who dreams of leaving her hometown. She holds unresolved emotions tied to Do Ha. Her notable acting credits include The Sound of Magic, Time to Be Strong, Beyond Evil, and more.
  • Kim Gun Woo plays a sharp lawyer who adds more depth to the adult timeline.
  • Supporting actors Choi Byung Mo, Ahn Dong Goo, and Kwon Ah Reum round out the cast.

‘Last Summer’ Trailer and First Look

While the full trailer has yet to be released, early teasers are expected closer to the premiere. Fans can see glimpses of Lee Jae Wook’s transformation between the two brothers and the warm yet heartbreaking tone of the story.
