Fans are expressing outrage and disappointment over the MAMA Awards, which they claim were rigged to produce certain winners – including BIBI, who won Best Vocal Performance Solo.

On the final day of the ceremony in Osaka on November 23, BIBI won the Best Vocal Performance Solo for her hit single “Bam Yang Gang.”

Other nominees in this category were IU (“Love Wins All”), Taeyeon (“To. X”), Lim Young Woong (“Warmth”), and Lee Mujin (“Episode”).

IU and Taeyeon were leading in fan votes, and according to final predictions, either IU or Taeyeon, who were neck and neck in total score, were expected to win this category.

BIBI was ranked third in the voting but ultimately took home the Best Vocal Performance Solo awards.

Fans have been calling out the MAMA Awards for being rigged, claiming that the ceremony robbed well-deserving artists of their rightful wins. Although fans acknowledge BIBI’s vocal talents and the song’s popularity, they believe the award should have gone to either Taeyeon or IU.

Previously, Chapter 1 of the MAMA Awards in Japan sparked controversy over Jimin’s Daesang win. Jimin won the Fans’ Choice of the Year award, despite ENHYPEN being the predicted winners and leading in the votes.

On another note, the MAMA Awards 2024 wrapped up on November 23, and now fans are looking forward to the Melon Music Awards, taking place on November 30.
