Rapper and producer MC Mong, whose real name is Shin Dong Hyun, is facing serious allegations of prostitution. The controversy emerged after residents of his apartment building reported unusual activity and provided CCTV footage as evidence.
The issue was highlighted on the TV Chosun program Shin Tong Bang Tong on February 4, following a report by journalist Kim Sung Min on the YouTube channel Jirit Jirit.
Residents had repeatedly complained that outsider women frequently visited MC Mong’s apartment. This raised suspicions that it was being used as a place for prostitution. Security footage reportedly showed three women, believed to be hostesses from adult entertainment establishments. These women entered the apartment elevator late at night.
When questioned, MC Mong said it was simply a day when he ate with friends and had a wine party. He initially insisted that not everyone who works at a bar is involved in prostitution. However, after being shown the footage, he reportedly admitted to the situation to some extent and said he would voluntarily step down from his position at his agency, One Hundred.
He has not released an official statement regarding the allegations. These allegations come amid a turbulent year for MC Mong. In July, he announced he would step down as co-CEO of One Hundred and study abroad. He cited extreme depression, health issues, and recovery from surgery.
Earlier, he was involved in an alleged affair with Cha Ga Won, chairman of PIAK Group, during his tenure at One Hundred. MC Mong denied the affair allegations and threatened legal action against the media outlet that first reported them. He also faced accusations of illegally obtaining the psychotropic drug Zolpidem under his former manager’s name. He denied the allegations and insisted that he always received medication prescribed under his own name.
Some online speculation has linked MC Mong’s removal from One Hundred in June last year to a scandal involving Ju Haknyeon. Ju, a former member of THE BOYZ, was accused of soliciting prostitution in Japan shortly afterward. Although rumors suggested a connection, no official link has been confirmed.
