FTISLAND’s Minhwan is set to resume activities with the group following months of hiatus due to controversy surrounding his past behavior.
On March 5, Xport News reported that Minhwan is set to make a comeback and resume full-fledged activities by the end of this month. The FTISLAND drummer will kick off his activities with a performance at the Osaka Festival Hall in Japan on March 9. He will then join the group’s Japanese concerts on March 19, 22, and 23.
Choi Minhwan will resume full FTISLAND activities, starting with upcoming concerts in Japan. He is expected to actively participate in future overseas schedules. However, it is still unclear if he will perform in Korea any sooner as the reaction to his return is mixed.
Lee Hong Ki recently hinted at Minhwan’s return to FTISLAND during a fan meeting on March 2. He acknowledged that many Koreans are uncomfortable with the idea, but believes he deserves a chance to redeem himself. Lee suggested that the band might reunite as a trio in Korea someday. However, the 32-year-old drummer would rejoin the group for overseas performances.
Meanwhile, Choi Minhwan and Yulhee, a former member of Laboum, went their separate ways in December 2023. The couple, who married in 2018, share three children. After the divorce, Choi retained custody of the children.
Last year, Yulhee sparked controversy by releasing a recording of Minhwan visiting a business establishment and accusing him of sexual assault. After backlash, he took a break from group activities. However, the allegations against him were eventually dropped due to insufficient evidence.
