The Korean drama ‘Boyfriend on Demand” starring Seo In Guk and BLACKPINK’s Jisoo has abandoned its initial plans to air on MBC. As per reports, it will instead opt for a global release on Netflix in 2026.
Considering Jisoo’s global appeal, it is understandable why makers chose to release the show on the giant streaming platform. Since it is her first romantic comedy, the decision to release it on Netflix adds to the overall excitement.
Her recent zombie comedy drama “Newtopia”, a Coupang Play original, was acquired by Prime Video. The show premiered on Coupang Play and Prime Video on February 7.
‘Boyfriend on Demand” was previously announced as an MBC drama. However, an exclusive TenAsia report reveals that Netflix has officially picked the drama.
Filming for the drama began last year and is expected to continue until May. Lee Soo Hyuk is also part of the rom-com as he was spotted filming with Jisoo in Cebu, Philippines.
Seo In Guk and Jisoo star as the lead actors in the upcoming drama “Boyfriend on Demand”. The two recently wrapped up filming schedules in the Philippines.
“Marry My Husband” actress Gong Min Jung has joined the cast as a supporting actress. She returns to the screen for the first time since giving birth.
“Boyfriend on Demand” is a fantasy romance series about a virtual reality service that lets subscribers rent a boyfriend. However, things take a surprising turn when the virtual relationships start to become real.
Director Kim Jung Sik, who has directed hits like “Work Later, Drink Now”, “Strong Woman Nam-Soon”, and “No Gain No Love”, is at the helm.
Jisoo is currently starring in Coupang Play’s original series “Newtopia”, alongside Park Jung-min. The show takes place in a high-rise building in Seoul, where a zombie outbreak occurs.
In addition to her acting projects, she has also made a solo music comeback with her album “AMORTAGE“, released on February 14.
As per the TenAsia report, “Boyfriend on Demand” will premiere on Netflix in 2026.
