Park Ji Hyun will not reprise her role in Season 2 of SBS’s popular drama Flex X Cop.
As reported by My Daily August 13, Park has been confirmed to step away from the role of Lee Kang Hyun, head of Violent Crimes Unit 1, which she portrayed in the first season. Due to her unavailability, the production is currently seeking a new actress to take on the part. Filming for Season 2 is scheduled to begin early next year once casting is finalized.
Premiered in January 2024, Flex X Cop, follows a reckless third-generation chaebol who becomes a detective in the violent crimes unit. The series achieved a peak nationwide rating of 11%, one of SBS’s most successful dramas of the year.
Her performance as a principled, workaholic detective who empathizes with victims received praise from critics and viewers.
While Park Ji Hyun will not appear in Flex X Cop Season 2, she has signed on for a new romantic comedy opposite Seo In Guk. The tvN drama, based on the hit webtoon Back to Work! tells the story of workplace veteran Cha Ji Yoon (Park Ji Hyun) and her prickly yet charming boss Kang Si-woo (Seo In Guk). This webtoon-based drama, with over 20 million views, is set to premiere next year.
Park is also starring in Netflix’s upcoming series You and Everything Else, scheduled for release on September 12, 2025. The drama, which also features Kim Go Eun, explores the complex, decades-long friendship between writer Ryu Eun Jung (Kim Go Eun) and film producer Cheon Sang Yeon (Park Ji Hyun).
While fans may miss her in Flex X Cop Season 2, her packed schedule suggests audiences will still see plenty of her on screen in the months ahead.
