HYBE Labels groups like SEVENTEEN, LE SSERAFIM, and NewJeans dominated the 38th Japan Gold Disc Awards.
The Recording Industry Association of Japan revealed the list of winners on March 13th, where SEVENTEEN snagged six awards at the ceremony.
SEVENTEEN won Best Asian Artist and Best Album of the Year (Asia) for FML. Plus, FML, their 10th mini album, ALWAYS YOURS, a Japanese album, and SEVENTEENTH HEAVEN, the 11th mini album, took home the awards in the Best 3 Albums category in Asia.
SEVENTEEN WORLD TOUR ‘BE THE SUN’ JAPAN, featuring live concerts, grabbed the title of Music Video of the Year in the Asian category.
This marks the first time SEVENTEEN has clinched the Best Asian Artist category at the 2024 Japan Gold Disc Awards, awarded to the most active Asian artist of the year. Notably, SEVENTEEN is the first artist in the history of the awards ceremony to sweep all three Best 3 Album awards in the Asian category.
On the other hand, LE SSERAFIM bagged two awards including the New Artist of the Year trophy, similar to the Rookie of the Year award, and the Best 3 New Artists trophies in the Asia category.
NewJeans scored two trophies at this awards show even before her debut in Japan. They were chosen as one of the Best 3 New Artists in the Asia category and also snagged the Song of the Year by Streaming in the Asia category for her popular track OMG.
After LE SSERAFIM and NewJeanes, the Best 3 New Artists title in the Asia category was claimed by SM Entertainment’s fresh boy group RIIZE. Meanwhile, the Japanese group XG, following the K-pop system, secured the Best 5 New Artists spot in the Japanese category.
Jungkook from BTS grabbed the Song of the Year by Download (Asia) award for his first official solo debut track Seven featuring Latto.
Lastly, Stray Kids clinched Best 5 Singles awards with their Japanese single Social Path (feat. LiSA) / Super Bowl -Japanese ver. at the Japan Gold Disc Awards 2024.
