SEVENTEEN members Jeonghan and THE8 attended a brand event last event, but the experience left many fans feeling disappointed and financially burdened.
Since it was Jeonghan’s last public appearance before enlistment, CARATs (SEVENTEEN’s fandom) went to extreme lengths to participate.
However, the event, which promised a meet-and-greet opportunity, lasted only 10 minutes.
TH8 and Jeonghan, who are ambassadors for the eyewear brand Speculum, attended the brand event on September 20.
Speculum announced a special event with SEVENTEEN members in September, inviting 50 lottery winners. To participate, fans bought the brand’s products, with some spending over 63 million won.
Initially promising 50 lottery winners, a photo wall event, and a special video, the company instead allowed additional Chinese winners to attend, canceled the photo wall event, and didn’t release the video.
Jeonghan and THE8 attended an event for less than 10 minutes, much shorter than the usual 30 minutes. Fans felt deceived and protested to Speculum for poorly managing the event.
They promised compensation but did not explain the reason behind their short appearance. SEVENTEEN fans are angry, saying the brand used the group’s name to make money.”
On another note, Jeonghan began his alternative service as a public service worker on September 26. He participated in SEVENTEEN’s final comeback as a full group before members begin military service.
SEVENTEEN dropped the album “SPILL THE FEELS” on October 14, members Jun and Jeonghan did not participate in promotional activities and subsequent world tour.
