SEVENTEEN’s leader S.Coups and rapper Mingyu are officially forming a new duo subunit, with their first album slated for September. Their agency, Pledis Entertainment, confirmed the news today, stating that details will follow in a formal schedule later.

This marks SEVENTEEN’s fourth official unit, following BSS (Seungkwan, DK, Hoshi), Jeonghan x Wonwoo, and Hoshi x Woozi. What makes this unit stand out is that it’s the first comprised solely of hip-hop team members.

This announcement aligns with SEVENTEEN’s 10th anniversary “Rebirth Project.” It is a creative initiative designed to keep the group active and evolving, particularly as some members begin their military service.

Two pivotal members are preparing to enlist next month. Member and music producer Woozi will begin active duty on September 15, followed by Hoshi on September 16. Their final activities include participation in the Hoshi x Woozi fan concert “WARNING” and fan-signing events for the new SEVENTEEN album. Two other SEVENTEEN members, Jeonghan and Wonwoo, have already enlisted in the alternative service.

SEVENTEEN is also launching their 2025 “NEW_ World Tour” in support of their fifth studio album, HAPPY BURSTDAY. The album was released in May and celebrated widely as an explosive rebirth.

The tour kicks off in Incheon on September 13–14, then heads to Asia, North America, and Japan, wrapping up in Fukuoka on December 21. Several shows in the U.S., including Tacoma, Los Angeles, Austin, Sunrise (Florida), and Washington, are confirmed.

The upcoming Austin, Texas shows are especially notable, marking the group’s first-ever performance in that city.

S.Coups will not fulfill his military duties due to a knee injury, whereas Mingyu will enlist sometime next year. Before that, the duo will form a unit and release an album for CARATs, as group activities are on pause.

SEVENTEEN’s 10th anniversary was bittersweet for fans because some members were not part of the celebrations due to military service. Well, remaining members will continue unit and solo activities till all members complete their national defense duties, which will be around 2028-2029.
