SF9 fans, get ready to bid a temporary farewell to the group’s talented vocalist and dancer, Dawon!
The 28-year-old idol has officially announced his military enlistment date, marking the beginning of a new chapter in his mandatory service period.
SF9’s Dawon will be enlisted in the military as an active-duty soldier to serve for a total of 1 year and 6 months. After that, he is scheduled to return and resume his idol activities.
In South Korea, military service is mandatory for able-bodied men, and many K-pop idols enlist in their late 20s to early 30s.
On May 21, FNC Entertainment made an announcement stating that Dawon will be enlisting in active duty on July 1st.
To ensure that there is no overcrowding on the day of enlistment, the agency has decided not to hold a separate official event. Fans are kindly asked not to visit as this is a private event for many military service members.
Lastly, the agency expressed their gratitude for the love that fans have shown him and asked for their continued support until the day he returns after completing his military service.
Following his enlistment, he will undergo a 5-week basic military training. Afterward, he will receive his unit assignment and begin his service. It is expected that Dawon will be discharged on December 31, 2025.
Previously, he held a solo fan meeting at the Concert Hall of Yonsei University Sinchon Campus on April 27 and 28, to meet his fans before enlisting.
