SM Entertainment Responds to Quasi-Rape Allegations Against Taeil

Former NCT Member Taeil

NCT fans were left shocked by the reports emerging today against Taeil’s sexual misconduct.

On October 7, shocking revelations were made by Chosun, revealing that Taeil underwent an investigation at Seoul’s Bangbae Police Station regarding quasi-rape charges.

He was referred to the Seoul Central District Prosecutors’ Office last month, on September 12. However, prosecutors have yet to summon him for further questioning.

In June, Taeil was charged with sexually assaulting a woman who was under the influence of alcohol with two non-famous acquaintances.

In relation to this, a representative of SM Entertainment told Daily Sports, ‘It’s difficult to comment as the investigation is currently underway.’

Following Taeil’s questioning on August 28, SM Entertainment released a statement announcing his departure from the group. The agency had faced criticism for its silence since the lawsuit was filed in June. However, SM Entertainment clarified that they and Taeil were only informed of the lawsuit in mid-August.

Quasi-rape, as defined by law, involves using a weapon or collaborating with others to commit sexual intercourse with someone who is mentally vulnerable or incapable of resist. If found guilty, the offender faces a minimum sentence of 7 years imprisonment or potentially life imprisonment.
