SM Entertainment Terminates Contract with Former NCT Member Taeil Amidst Sexual Assault Charges

Taeil

SM Entertainment has officially cut ties with Taeil and confirmed contract termination!

The former NCT member was recently sent to prosecution without detention on charges of quasi-rape.

On October 16, SM Entertainment announced the contract termination through an official statement, stating, “We would like to inform you that as of October 15, 2024, our exclusive contract with Taeil has been terminated.

Taeil is currently under investigation by the prosecution due to a criminal lawsuit, which not only constitutes grounds for termination of the exclusive contract but also makes it impossible to maintain trust in him as an artist.

As a result, we have mutually agreed to terminate the contract. Once again, we sincerely apologize for any concern caused by Taeil, who was formerly one of our artists.”

Former NCT member Taeil is currently embroiled in a serious legal controversy. In June, a woman reported to the Seoul Bangbae Police Station that Taeil and two acquaintances allegedly sexually assaulted her while she was intoxicated.

Following the complaint filed on June 13, authorities initiated an investigation into Taeil and summoned him for questioning on August 28. Reports indicate that Taeil faces charges of quasi-ape.

SM Entertainment removed Taeil from NCT on August 28 and NCT members unfollowed him on social media accounts. He has made his social media accounts private and deleted content from YouTube channel.
